An elegant cigar, its almost metallic-looking Mexican maduro San-Andres wrapper is already by itself the promise of a great olfactory journey. Its raw notes form a diptych: cedar and lapsang-souchong black tea on one side, leather and musk on the other. The first third sets the tone: notes of candied fruits and licorice, draped in a mineral veil, followed by spicy notes evoking leather, cocoa and mokka coffee. The strength to aroma balance is astonishing, and the cigar stays very rich as to warn of the gustative shock that is about to come: the smoke keeps getting more intense, developing fragrances of warm sand, freshly roasted coffee, incense, barn or fine herbs such as fenugreek and chervil. Lastly, in the third part, the aromas seem to melt altogether and caramelize: muscovado sugar, toasted bread, musky and almost animal scents. The thick smoke doesn’t go down in flavor, without however becoming neither heavy, bitter nor aggressive.
The particularity of this exceptional cigar is that it can be smoked from both ends. Depending on which is lit, the aromas develop differently, thus delivering a completely different experience to the smoker. It almost feels like two different cigars, two distinct souls are hiding under one unique wrapper. A truly great gustative experience, an empire-style cigar, highly evolving, to be savored in the gardens of a Marrakech palace while, just a little further away, the Harmattan wind blankets the city in sand and dust.
